DESIGN PROJECT
A care facility influenced Coventry's historical architecture, designed to remain aesthetically coherent with modern developments in the area. A Row of assisted living units reimagine the terraced brick housing previously present on Much Park Street, utilising and preserving the Whitefriars gate structure as an entrance and material palette for the proposed development; adjoined to a three-storey care facility, inspired by the tiered form of Whitefriars Monastery based upon historical sketches. Timber panelling partially covers windows facing public areas, providing privacy without limiting view or natural light. An interior layout designed around a wheelchair turning radius of 1500mm results in the proposed building being fully accessible. This was an individual project completed for my final year. Designed in SketchUp & AutoCad. Renders made with TwinMotion & edited with Photoshop.
GROUP PROJECT
Conversion of existing sports centre in to office & educational space that is both sustainable and in-keeping with aesthetic and materiality of locale. Final Design featured a yellow brick facade with timber detailing around window apertures to contrast the brick and provide texture. A partial green roof provides outdoor space and accommodates the potential for rainwater management/harvesting systems. Mezzanine floors create a passive stack effect, ventilating the building through the high-level and roof windows. Design elements included in this building were inspired by other Coventry University buildings; notably Alison Gingell and Frank Whittle. This was a group project completed for my final year, where I was in charge of exterior design and interior layout; generating renders to exhibit the design and drawings to show the technical design. Being elected as group leader meant that I had to coordinate contributions and ensure timely completion of tasks, taking responsibility to support peers with tasks and complete additional work to achieve a successful project. Designed in SketchUp. Renders made with Thea Render & edited with Photoshop.
